CORU has grown from Dr Keith Hosking's dedicated efforts in developing and providing a world class service for sarcoma and joint reconstruction patients. It has now evolved to incorporate the care of patients both in the state and private sectors under one banner.

The institute manages tertiary and quaternary referrals and treatment of patients from all over Africa. We operate out of 3 main hospitals in Cape Town, namely:

  • Groote Schuur Hospital (State)

  • Red Cross Children's Hospital (State)

  • Vincent Palotti Life Orthopaedic Hospital (Private)

Our goal is to expand the provision of care to patients in other parts of Southern Africa taking our expertise and innovative care to areas where it is lacking.

We are developing training courses for surgeons who wish to gain more experience in the techniques and implants required to perform complex operations in limb reconstruction.

It is our vision to continue to develop innovative surgical techniques and prostheses to improve upon the current management of cancer patients and patients who are looking for solutions to rare/extreme/difficult medical/surgical problems.
